Learn To Understand Baby Signs

You may think of trying to baby sign during short little conversations with your child, using signs for “sleep,” “hungry,” “food” and “toys.” Yet there are several different avenues that can be used for teaching baby signing. Besides actual toys to help facilitate learning, there are flash cards, DVDs and picture books as well. But you can’t ignore that music is another important aspect that is used in so many ways to help babies learn.

Much of the structure of the programs that help to teach sign language for babies is based on the social and medical understanding of early childhood development. So it’s not a surprise that the creators of these programs have included music, since it plays such a large role in baby learning in general. Even the Baby Einstein program, which started out trying to increase babies’ intellectual capacity with classical music and poetry, has entered the baby sign language realm. It offers a video called “My first Signs – See & Sign With Baby,” which teaches simple signs accompanied by speech and of course classical music.

Baby Signs, Inc. is more heavily and directly involved in baby sign work, and this company’s products include music, as well as books, toys and instructional videos. They have several different music bundles, including a Music CD called “If You’re Happy and You Know it.” Meanwhile, at the www.signbabies.com website you also find that in their “Signing Time” instructional packages, not only are there DVDs that teach the signs themselves, but each one has an accompanying music CD. You can also sometimes find local play groups that use music to teach signs as the children interact with each other.

Music has long been recognized as an avenue to help make learning easier, along with all its other functions. Learning to baby sign is no exception to this, as music provides an aural as well as a visual avenue through which the signing information enters the baby’s mind, helping the child to retain that information better. As you and your baby learn to sign, music may also be a stress reliever, because after all, melody is known to slow the heart rate and steady the breath. And music can help make the process just plain fun, as baby learns this wonderful new way of communicating.

Tips On Decorating Your Baby’s Room Yourself

Coming up with a wonderful baby room does not require you to spend a fortune. All it takes is a little creativity, plus a lot of eagerness to pull off designing a room for your bundle of joy. If you’re ready, whip out your notebook and pencil and take note of the following helpful tips.

Paint the room with bright colors instead of uninteresting ones. And the walls do not have to be painted in one solid shade. Try to paint them in 2-3 different colors that go well together. You can look at interior decorating magazines for the in colors these days. Or you can also use the internet as a resource for great baby room wall color ideas.

Your baby will spend most of his or her time lying down and staring at the ceiling. That is why you should also focus on making the ceiling look interesting. Appliques may be purchased where home decor accents are being sold. They are easy to apply, and may also be used for the walls. Then you may have a colorful chandelier installed.

Your bundle of joy’s room need not have everything in it matching to look clean and fresh. You can throw in an array of colors and textures. However, always go for ones that harmonize each other. Also, you may steer clear of conventional colors or decorations. For example, the bedding collection may instead be of bold shades or prints, rather than be printed with cartoon characters.

When it comes to the furnishings, aside from looks and function, make sure they’re safe for use in a baby’s room. They should have sturdy and stable bases. Avoid ones with glass materials in them, as well as jagged or sharp fittings. You want to have baby-friendly furnishings when your little one begins to learn how to walk.

It’s best to invest in items that will last for many years. You should go for good quality crib, bed, cabinets, shelves and the likes. If you have not much free time to drop by stores, you can always look for items online. The internet is a great place to shop around for baby items, from toys, designer baby bedding, to other accessories.

If you’re on a tight budget, you can always shop at garage sales or thrift stores. But see to it that the items you will purchase meet certain standards for safety. Some items may be in great shape, but may have been outmoded years ago because of health hazards. Always remember that the safety of your baby comes first.

Soccer Practice – How To Organize Drills

Soccer practice

Here’s a really simple way to explain soccer practice; there is no set rule. You can try new and innovative ways, create new drills and games and like that. What’s more, be on a lookout for drills that are already in use but need modification as per your requirements. In order to help you out in executing a useful soccer training plan, here are some tips.

Put together some flexible plans. It’s not surprising that every plan might not give expected results. It could be due to untimely rains, you being unwell, or the kids not showing up. Therefore, equip yourself with requisite tools to save your day’s plan as they may serve as barriers.

It’s best to keep in stock a number of soccer practice games ready. If some do not give the desired results, you can eliminate them and move to the next. Flow with the training and you will get to know what is working best for the kids.

Tell the kids to warm up ahead of every session. The kids should be made to utilize the soccer ball as an extension to their standard drills to warm up. Add exciting games like Fetch along with other nice practice exercises. The coach in this game would throw the ball towards the player and the player would return it by using both and one feet.

Soccer Training

The kids can be trained to use both their feet to roll the ball and kick it forward and backward stuck between the feet. There are loads of soccer drills like this that players use to warm up.

Make sure every player has a separate soccer ball that belongs to him. And then, it calls for you to devise a number of individual activities that call for using the ball. The players must practice dribbling, hitting the ball to the wall, shooting and so on. You should see that no lines are involved and the movement remains as free as possible.

In soccer coaching, group activities should happen after the individual activities are done with. Passing and receiving the ball great drills for practicing. In group activities, it’s imperative for the kids to show some team spirit. It’s natural for the kids to take some time in getting used to the feeling of team spirit from individual play to team play. You‘ve got be the guiding light here for the team. Stress on the fact that it’s each other’s support in the team that will help win matches.

And also the weak team players should be appropriately guided to play as a team. Activities like these promote team spirit and brotherhood.

Allow the kids to play in teams, the game of soccer not including a goalkeeper. Ask them to target the goal without caring for any rules. In addition, tell them to first attack and then defend. This helps them do their own thing and in the process develop something new.

This is the easiest way to conduct a soccer practice. Just let yourself free and create whatever you think will help the kids learn. There is nothing like a right or wrong drill. Just remember to allow yourself adaptability. Our youth soccer coaching community has wealth of resources on youth soccer that will help you make the most of training sessions.

Some Thoughts on ADHD Prescription Drugs and Potential Consequences to Your Child’s Health…

You have probably, at one point or another, stopped to ponder the number of ADHD prescription drugs and their side effects. Of course, the most well known are Adderall and Ritalin. However, there are others too. The list of side effects that come with any drug, including ADHD drugs can be rather long. Here is a tip: the next time you pick up ANY drug at your local pharmacy, ask the pharmacist to print out a list of side effects for you. You might be VERY surprised! Some of the side effects can even be quite serious.

ADHD drugs usually fall into one of three categories:

1. Long acting stimulant

2. Short or Intermediate acting stimulant

3. Not a Stimulant.

The long acting drugs will include drugs similar to Ritalin LA, Metadate CD, Focalin XR, Daytrana, Concerta, Adderal XR, and Vyvanse. These drugs can affect your child for up twelve hours! As such, they are only taken once-per-day. In the case of Ritalin LA or Adderal XR, they come in a capsule form that you can open and sprinkle onto food. Daytrana is a patch that the child can wear just like a ‘quit smoking’ transdermal.

The short and intermediate drug prescriptions for ADHD include Ritalin, Adderall, Dexedrine and Dextrostat, as well as Methylin ER.
These drugs are sort of out-of-style as they need to be taken more than once per day. On the other hand, they are not available in generic forms which can be less costly.

Non stimulant ADHD drugs, the most well known being Strattera, are not prescribed as often as the stimulant drugs are. However, in the case of a child who suffers anxiety in conjunction with his ADHD issues, the doctor might prescribe Strattera. Drugs like this may also be an option for children who do not do well with the stimulant drugs.

The side effects for the stimulant drugs can often include headaches, stomach aches, sleeplessness (insomnia), eating disorders, withdrawing socially, vomiting and, with that, nausea. This is not the end of the list, just some highlights! As a parent, you might see the outward signs of the side effects such as your child being dull or even a bit less-responsive or the appearance of being in a trance!

The non-stimulants, like Strattera can have similar side effects too. Allergic reactions can also be a concern. As a parent, you certainly want the best for your child and that is why you both may benefit from considering an all natural alternative remedy.

One of the most alarming suspicions of researchers is the appearance of a greater risk of depression in adulthood for children who were prescribed ADHD prescription drugs. When you consider the side effects along with this long term potential danger, you might conclude that the risk is too great. The good news is that there are alternative remedies available that do not appear to have these side effects.

To recap, ADHD prescription drugs have a number of possible side effects. You, as a parent, definitely want your child to have a happy, successful and fulfilling life but you also want to deal with the symptoms of ADHD at the same time. Homeopathic remedies could offer a viable alternative. If ADHD can be treated safely with a more natural remedy, you might conclude that to be a better alternative than prescription drugs.
